1950 Brown sunburst, in really good condition. Purchased last year. Jim Ferguson (Nashville) did neck joint repair, put an ebony fingerboard on it, and re glue seams. Bass had been in a guy's basement in Wisconsin for several years--a brother in law of Jerry Krahn, guitarist w/Titan Hot 7, a jazz band the current owner plays with. Used in performance with Crystal Gale and Danny Davis and Titan Hot 7, a Nashville-based jazz band.

Currently (as of 12.01.2005) owned by Ike Harris in Nashville, TN.

2090 1950 Lighter brown in color, this bass is in need of some TLC. Cracks through the neck at the heel, at the bottom of the peghead, and where the back of the heel meets the body. Looks like these all may have happened at once, like when the bass fell over. No sinkage or delaminations to speak of. Purchased for $700 w/ original endpin that is the same in the add photos that were posted.

Currently (as of 12.23.2005) owner known only on talkbass.com as 'Tornadobass'.
2101 1950 David. No pictures or other information.
2120 1951 No data or pics.

Currently (as of 09.25.2004) owned by Dennis Kong of San Mateo, CA

2162 1951 Rich dark brown in the center with lighter shading of brown on the outer edges. Broken scroll repaired, new finger board, and regluing by Pete Langdell, master luthier and owner of Rigel Mandolin Co. in Cambridge, Vt. Of course he did a great job and it's in excellent shape. Original owner played it in High School in the mid 50's. Purchased from a music store (no longer in business) somewhere in Vermont. 'American Standard--Cleveland' brand on back.

Currently (as of 12.01.2005) owned by Billie Jean Quintin, in VT.

Currently (as of 12.05.2005) owned by Barry Bales of Nashville, TN.

2610 1956 Owned by Billy Linneman,  Opry staff bassist for 40+ years owns this well-worn dark colored AS. Bass. Maintained by Jim Ferguson, Nashville, said the bass "had been sitting a little too close to the BBQ." At one point, someone described the gap so wide at the neck joint you could see daylight through it. Note the 'unknown' pianist on the Opry!

Currently (as of 12.01.2005) owned by Billy Linneman in Nashville, TN.

2682 1957 Honey blonde, no shading. Refin of mediocre quality, which also meant the painted purfling was gone.. Excellent overall condition, original neck with a repaired break near the peg box. Original tuning machines. Had a paper label + serial number penciled on inside of bass. Had the "American Standard - Cleveland, Ohio" brand on the back. Fingerboard was a brownish-reddish wood--rosewood or 'hornbeam' as some guessed.

Purchased in Michigan by Brent Norton and sold. Currently owned and in MI.

2753 1958

Medium brown w/ lacquer finish. Fingerboard is ebony and the tailpiece is probably ebonized. Purfling is painted on the front and the back--a small, dark line. Heart-shape on the back encircling the American Standard, Cleveland, Ohio stamp. Kerfling is bigger than some. Label is inside the treble f-hole--w/ hand written number in pencil, very largely written. Label has a border. Tuners are original and have small, Phillips head screws attaching the tuner plates. Neck joint is solid. Bought in an estate sale and resold by a woman near Willoughby, OH (25 miles from the H N White factory site in Cleveland, OH) in November 2005. Original bag (zipper).

2930 1961 Bought at a yard sale (in MA) from the original owner who claimed to have bought it new in 1953, but more likely much later (serial number suggests a date in the early 60s). The original owner played the bass in big bands on the West coast, and studied at Juliard, in NYC. Greenish, all original, rosewood board, pinstriped edges. Serial # is written in pencil as well as on two stickers inside the body.
